Studio JEFRE is the studio of internationally recognized Filipino-American artist JEFRE, known for creating large-scale public monuments, museum installations, and iconic landmarks around the world. The studio’s work spans public art, institutional commissions, memorials, and cultural landmarks that drive tourism, economic development, and civic identity.
As the studio continues to grow globally—with works across multiple countries, institutions, and public spaces—we are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Art Registrar & Studio Operations Manager to help document, manage, and support the long-term legacy and operations of the artist’s body of work.
Position Overview
This is a hybrid senior operations role combining elements of a museum registrar, art archivist, studio manager, and development coordinator.
This role works closely with the artist and serves as a key organizational and coordination partner alongside the artist’s management and brand-licensing team, Shark Art (a division of Shark Group, led by Daymond John). The ideal candidate has experience in the museum, gallery, or institutional art world and is comfortable managing complex information while supporting a high-profile international practice.
This position plays a critical role in structuring, documenting, and positioning a major global body of work.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
1. Artwork Documentation & Archiving (Primary Responsibility)
Create and maintain a centralized digital archive of all artworks worldwide
Develop a museum-standard cataloging system, including:
Title, year, medium, dimensions
Edition information
Location (city, country, collection)
Fabricator and collaborators
Insurance and valuation data (when applicable)
High-resolution images, drawings, renderings, and supporting files
Implement and manage an art database system (e.g. Artwork Archive, Airtable, or similar)
Establish consistent naming conventions and documentation standards
Assist in building the foundation for a future catalog raisonné
2. Visual & Catalog Materials
Coordinate or prepare:
Artwork fact sheets
Catalog pages
Submission decks
Institutional and grant support materials
Work with designers or apply light graphic/layout skills (InDesign, Canva, or similar)
Maintain organized digital asset libraries and shared folders
3. Grants & Institutional Support
Research and track relevant grants, fellowships, and public art funding opportunities
Assist with grant applications, including:
Project descriptions
Artist statements
Impact and community narratives
Supporting materials and documentation
Track deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements
4. Studio Operations & Management Coordination
Serve as a primary liaison between the artist, Studio JEFRE, and the artist’s management and brand-licensing partner, Shark Art (a division of Shark Group, led by Daymond John)
Support coordination of materials, documentation, and information requested by the management team related to:
Brand partnerships and licensing initiatives
Institutional placements and exhibitions
Public art opportunities and proposals
Media, PR, and strategic initiatives
Assist the artist by organizing and preparing assets, catalogs, and reference materials for management-led efforts
Help track ongoing conversations, deliverables, and timelines across the artist, studio, and management teams
Act as an extension of the artist’s studio to ensure clear communication, organization, and follow-through across all stakeholders
Qualifications
3+ years experience in one or more of the following:
Museum registrar or assistant registrar
Gallery or studio management
Curatorial or collections support
Arts nonprofit or institutional administration
Strong understanding of museum, gallery, and institutional standards
Experience with art databases and cataloging systems
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable managing multiple projects across different time zones
Experience with grants or institutional applications is a plus
Familiarity with graphic/layout tools (InDesign, Canva, or similar) is a plus
Position Details
Schedule: Part-time (approximately 20–30 hours per week)
Location: Remote (U.S. preferred), with occasional travel or in-person coordination as needed
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience
(Hourly or monthly retainer options available)
