Position Summary
The Department of Podiatric Surgery invites applications for non-tenure track assistant/associate professor position(s) in podiatric medicine and surgery within Temple University’s School of Podiatric Medicine (TUSPM), beginning April 1, 2026. We seek an outstanding scholar, teacher and clinician who will contribute to our mission of academic excellence, innovative research, inclusive education and high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
Teach professional school students in classroom, laboratory and clinical care settings in the field of podiatric medicine and surgery.
Provide direct patient care in TUSPM’s Foot and Ankle Institute and satellite practices, as well as hospital locations in the five (5) county Philadelphia region.
Provide emergency call coverage at a Level I trauma center (i.e., open ankle fractures, calcaneal/pilon fractures, motor vehicle accidents, etc.)
Conduct scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed venues.
Seek external funding to support research activities.
Mentor and advise students from different backgrounds.
Contribute to departmental, college, and university service.

Requirements
Qualifications
Required:
Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), Doctor of Medical (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution.
Current licensure to practice podiatric medicine, allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or be eligible for licensure.
Proof of registration with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to prescribe controlled substances without limitation.
Eligibility for participation in the Medicare and Pennsylvania Medicaid programs.
Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship.
Commitment to creating inclusive, accessible spaces for all students
Preferred:
American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) board eligible (formerly known as "board qualified").
Experience teaching and mentoring students from different backgrounds in an inclusive setting
Evidence of collaborative and interdisciplinary work.
Salary:
A commensurate combination of education and experience may be considered.
