Center for Veteran Student Success
Associate Director
The Center for Veteran Student Success is recognized as the primary authority providing quality and innovative service to the Veteran population of the Kean community, setting the standard for excellence and support. The Center is committed to serving the Veteran students of the Armed Forces of the United States and their dependents, as well as the broader Kean and surrounding communities.
Under the supervision of the Director of the Center for Veteran Student Success, the Associate Director (Associate Director 3) is responsible for assisting with the management of daily operations and provides direct support to student veterans. This position involves strategic planning, program implementation and ensuring compliance with university, state and federal regulations. The Associate Director also acts as a liaison between student veterans and other campus departments, advocates for veteran students and provides guidance and direction to staff involved in departmental services and programs. The Associate Director administers and implements the directives, policies, procedures and guidelines set forth by the Director; directs student services; and does related work as required.
This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. This position will require time split between the Union and Kean Ocean campuses, and other campus locations as needed. This employee may also work in person at offsite locations to support Center activities and initiatives.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and two years of related professional experience is required. A Master's degree, professional experience supporting veterans in higher education and veteran status is preferred. Experience transitioning active duty service members to student life; experience advising veterans; and experience recruiting veteran students is also preferred. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of constituents, including internal faculty, staff and senior management and excellent customer service skills.

In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Law, the annual salary range for this position is: $80,000 to $90,000. This position may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a retirement plan and benefits for work life balance.
