Description
Department of Radiology-Breast Imaging Fellowship
The Department of Radiology at the University of Colorado is seeking applicants for an unexpected opening in our fellowship in Breast Imaging for the 2026-2027 academic year. This fellowship provides extensive training in all state-of-the-art breast imaging procedures. This includes 2D and 3D (tomosynthesis) digital mammography, diagnostic ultrasound, and breast MRI diagnostic/screening examinations. Interventional procedures include the gamut of mammographic/stereotactic/tomosynthesis-, sonographic- and MR-guided biopsies, localization, aspirations, and drain placement procedures.
The Breast Imaging section includes 6 dedicated breast imaging radiologists who cover four breast centers in the Denver Metro region. Our procedural and clinical services are robust as we provide care to a diverse and complex patient population, many of who come from more rural medical practices in neighboring states with more advanced disease requiring comprehensive evaluations and often multidisciplinary management. Our fellows are primarily based at the main hospital campus where our section is imbedded within the Breast Center of the University of Colorado Hospital, thus we regularly engage in consultations with our surgical/oncological/APP providers. In addition to helping us run our busy clinical practice, our fellows prepare for and present imaging findings at our multiple weekly tumor board and multidisciplinary conferences, interact with and help instruct our diagnostic radiology residents, and become involved in research projects depending on personal interest.
Ultimately, our fellows complete their training with a broad experience in all aspects of breast imaging and procedures and are well prepared to become lead interpreting physicians wherever they choose to go from here.
