Description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in Mount Sinai Hospital, is seeking a faculty member at the Assistant/Associate Level with diagnostic and academic interests in Clinical Biochemistry. The anticipated start date is June 1, 2026 or a mutually agreed upon date.
We are seeking an individual who values working in a collegial environment at an institution with interesting clinical samples, state-of-the-art technologies, and the ability to form collaborations with dedicated clinical colleagues. The candidate should hold a PhD degree and be certified (or eligible for certification) in clinical chemistry by the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (CACB) and/or the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC). The applicant will have experience or training in routine biochemistry, special chemistry, automation, point of care testing and other leading edge methodologies in biochemical diagnostics.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual able to work in team settings with demonstrated professional skills, excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, and a strong interest in scholarly activities. Expertise in data analytics and/or health informatics, is preferred. Responsibilities will include oversight of analytical and quality aspects of laboratory services, on-call clinical chemistry service, interpretation of test results, approval of special test requests, validation and implementation of new tests, consultation and collaboration with health professionals and learners at all levels of training, and participation in quality improvement and quality assurance activities. The successful applicant will also be expected to do postgraduate teaching in the Postdoctoral Training Program in Clinical Chemistry at the University of Toronto, within the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, and in continuing medical education activities.
In addition, the candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary and benefits are in accordance to qualifications.
