Description
The Washington State Democratic Party is seeking a permanent, full-time Development Director to lead our team’s fundraising program. The Development Director is responsible for executing our fundraising plan in concert with the Executive Director, Chair, and outside consultants.
A successful Development Director will have an eye toward ensuring the Party remains financially solvent and has the resources necessary to run a successful program. This position will report to the Executive Director, and will manage our outside finance consultants. This is a hybrid position and is located in Seattle, WA. Some evening and weekend work will be required with flextime leave policies available. This position is a part of the WA Democrats’ collective bargaining unit.

Benefits
Salary is $8,100-$8,500.00/month (DOE), with comprehensive health care, vision, and dental coverage, mileage and phone stipend, paid time off, sick leave, bereavement leave, and paid observed holidays.

Requirements
Core Competencies
Successful applicants should have a demonstrated track record of:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for a wide variety of audiences, strong storyteller with understanding of persuasive narrative techniques
- Managing a wide range of stakeholder relationships with competing political priorities
- Meeting deadlines while prioritizing competing tasks
- Managing consultants and vendors
- Meeting and exceeding ambitious revenue goals
- Staff management experience preferred but not required
Experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- Two to four years of fundraising, sales, or other relevant experience
- Political campaign experience preferred but not required
- Proficiency in G-Suite, and CRM experience strongly preferred
- Experience soliciting and closing five and six figure gifts strongly preferred
Responsibilities
Day to day responsibilities will include:
- Design and execute the State Party’s multichannel, multiplatform fundraising program
- Work with senior leadership to set and meet ambitious but realistic fundraising targets
- Schedule and staff donor meetings for the Party chair and prepare associated briefing materials, serve as point person for an extensive donor stewardship program including drafting and distributing regular updates for the Party’s major donors
- Assist with management of key funder relationships with elected officials, labor unions, and partner organizations
- Design and draft the Party’s written fundraising communications including but not limited to direct mail, fundraising email/social media and donor proposals
- Manage the Party’s digital fundraising vendor in partnership with the communications team
- Serve as point person on recruitment and logistics for Party fundraising events ranging from donor luncheons to large galas
- Serve as call time manager for the Party chair – pull donor call lists and execute all needed follow-up
- Produce and distribute clear, concise reports on fundraising progress for senior leadership
- Work with the Party’s Compliance Director to ensure all fundraising activities are conducted in a legal and ethical manner per Washington State and Federal law
- Other duties as required
