Description
The Denver Foundation seeks a community-focused director of engaged learning who centers on mission-based work supporting the foundation’s vision, mission, and purpose. Our Director of Engaged Learning leads learning and evaluation strategies across The Denver Foundation, utilizing the foundation’s Learning Framework. The role is central to assessing progress, measuring impact, and translating data into actionable insights that inform organizational strategy and continuous improvement.
The Director of Engaged Learning is embedded in the Executive Department and works across departments and with external partners to ensure that learning is equity-centered, inclusive, and strategically aligned. The position requires strong facilitation skills, data fluency, and the ability to synthesize feedback into meaningful recommendations that guide decision-making at all levels of the organization.
This is a full-time position in Denver, Colorado. We work on a hybrid schedule of at least two days in the office (Monday and Thursday required). The starting salary for this position is $93,600 to $105,300 per year. This position is salaried, exempt, and eligible for all the foundation’s benefits. Benefits include paid time off, retirement (403(b)) contribution, tuition assistance, and medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. The starting salary will be based on experience.

The Director of Engaged Learning will lead the foundation’s learning, evaluation, and organizational performance efforts to strengthen impact and promote continuous improvement. The position is responsible for executing the foundation’s Learning Framework, gathering and analyzing feedback through surveys, focus groups, and stakeholder engagement, and synthesizing data from grants, donors, and investments to inform decision-making. Working closely with the Executive Team, this role guides strategic planning, annual work planning, and performance measurement, including the development of key performance indicators and the Board Dashboard. The position manages external evaluation consultants, supports state and federal grant applications, and advances learning related to policy impact and the Sustainable and Responsible Investment (SRI) Pool. Through this work, the role ensures equity-centered learning practices, fosters collaboration across departments, and effectively communicates insights and stories highlighting the foundation’s impact and growth.

Requirements
Candidates must possess the following:
- Minimum of five years of experience in impact-driven organizations (i.e., philanthropy, community foundations, government, community-based organizations, consultancies)
- Demonstrated experience in crafting evaluations and learning that informs organizational strategy
- Familiarity with aligning evaluation and learning with principles of equity
- Demonstrated experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods, data visualization, and facilitation techniques
- Excellent judgment and decision-making while balancing competing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills
- Excellent writing skills, including correspondence, reporting, and editing
- Ability to build relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures
