Position Summary:
The College of Performing Arts and Social Sciences at Henderson State University invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 2026. This is a 9-month faculty appointment with additional responsibility as Field Education Director. The successful candidate will provide leadership and oversight for the BSW field education program and oversee students and field placements. The role helps students demonstrate the nine Council on Social Work Education competencies across all system levels—individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities—while ensuring strong alignment with CSWE accreditation standards and student safety protocols. In addition, the faculty member will teach across the social work curriculum, engage in scholarly and professional activities, and participate in service at the department, college, university, and community levels. The position carries a 4/4 teaching load with 25% reassigned time to coordinate and administer Field Education. Teaching responsibilities include both in-person and online instruction, as the BSW program is delivered in a hybrid format.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Field Director Responsibilities:
Support and maintain the program’s field education component in alignment with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards.
Provide supervision and support to field students throughout their placements.
Conduct field site visits to monitor student learning and strengthen agency partnerships.
Oversee the field placement process, including matching students with appropriate agencies.
Recruit, onboard, and train new agency field instructors.
Assess and evaluate field education outcomes and student performance.
Develop and maintain relationships with agencies to pursue and secure new field placement opportunities.
Update and maintain the Field Education Manual.
Direct and coordinate all aspects of the field education program, including student placement, training and support of field instructors, and monitoring student progress.
Faculty Responsibilities:
Contribute to maintaining the program’s Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation through curriculum alignment, assessment, and participation in accreditation activities.
Teach undergraduate social work courses (e.g., practice, field education, or related areas based on expertise).
Engage in scholarship appropriate to a tenure-track faculty role.
Advise and mentor students in their academic and professional development.
Contribute to departmental initiatives and service at the program, institutional, and community levels.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requirements
MSW from a CSWE-accredited program.
At least two years of post-MSW professional social work practice experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in social work or related field for tenure track (ABD considered).
Experience in social work field education or supervision.
College-level teaching experience.
Experience with online instruction
