Description
Ontario County is looking for a professional and supervisory team member to provide professional planning work including developing, coordinating, administering, supervising, and implementing comprehensive and various planning programs and mentoring staff. The Director is expected to be a leader and work with the County’s senior administrative team as well as with other departments in the County.
Considerable contact with public officials, and professional and civic organizations representing the areas under study. The Director represents the County Administrator and Board of Supervisors in a variety of professional settings. Deferred compensation program with up to 3% County savings match; NYS Retirement pension program; 13 holidays and generous annual leave. Requirements
MINIMUM OUALIFICATIONS: Either a Master's Degree AND 6 years of paid experience, both as specified in the official posting at Ontario County website; OR a Bachelor's Degree AND 7 years of paid experience, as specified in official posting at Ontario County website.
ILLUSTRATIVE TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Develops and implements long-range, strategic planning goals; Estimates scheduling of time and costs for individual projects; Oversees contract services of consultants; Oversees compliance with local laws, codes, rules and regulations for planning and construction of County building projects; Administers planning programs and activities and maintains liaison with other officials and community leaders; Provides leadership and planning experience to programs of other divisions of government on a regional basis; Directs staff development and provides management of the Planning department; Administers policies and procedures for the department; Does related work as required.
