We are currently seeking a Genome Engineering Scientist  (Biologist II). This position is located in Columbus, Ohio.


We are seeking a skilled, hands-on Scientist to be a Payload Expert with extensive experience in molecular and cellular biology to help us to enhance our understanding of how genome editing tools work in the context of therapeutic applications. This role will focus on implementing and understanding a variety of genome editing techniques, including but not limited to “traditional” CRISPR-based editing and Prime base editing. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and interpreting experiments and must be willing to learn and employ a broad range of experimental techniques. The candidate must be enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.


  • Design, optimize, execute, and evaluate assays to characterize and measure efficiency of a variety of genome editing tools
  • Comfortable working with tissue culture 
  • Research and implement novel strategies to assess on- and off-target effects of genome editing agents
  • Perform large-scale screens to identify the most promising genome editing candidates for a specific context
  • Summarize and present data to interested parties (both written and oral)


  • Self-driven, curious, and detail-oriented scientist with a strong problem-solving mindset
  • Demonstrated scientific creativity and productivity as evidenced by a strong publication record in top tier journals or equivalent industry accomplishment
  • Extensive molecular cloning and construct design expertise
  • Extensive experience working with cell lines and primary cells
  • Strong expertise in the latest molecular and cellular biology and gene editing techniques including but not limited to designing and optimizing CRISPR components including gRNAs and HDR templates
  • Hands on experience implementing next generation sequencing assays and analyzing and interpreting NGS data
  • Experience working on high throughput experiments is essential; familiarity with automation platforms helpful but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to build open and collaborative relationships and work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • BSL2 lab environment
  • US citizen

Educational background:

  • PhD in Life Sciences, with 0-2 years of experience, or BS/MS with 8-10 years of relevant experience
