Position Summary
CCS is seeking an Interim Artistic Director to provide artistic leadership and continuity during a transitional season. The successful candidate will sustain the ensemble’s high artistic standards and collaborative culture while the organization conducts a full search for its next permanent director.
Responsibilities
Plan and conduct weekly evening rehearsals one night per week (7:00–9:00 PM) Sept-May, with the possibility of one Saturday rehearsal per semester if needed.
Select repertoire for Winter and Spring concert seasons that are challenging, creative and of interest to singers and the community.
Conduct all public performances and community engagement events (usually 3 or 4 per year)
Maintain the ensemble’s high artistic standards and inclusive, supportive culture
Serve as a member of the Board of Directors, attend the monthly meetings, and help carry out the board’s long-term strategic plan.
Work with the Board of Directors to carry out other objectives as assigned (example; writing program notes, radio interview, or other marketing needs)
Select and negotiate all artistic personnel (soloists, instrumentalists and guest artists) with board approval
Conduct auditions annually for new singers or at other times as needed
Compensation
This is an independent contractor (1099) position with an annual stipend of $8,000. The interim engagement is anticipated to cover the current concert season, with the possibility of extension pending a full director search.

Requirements
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in choral conducting, music education, or closely related field. Graduate studies preferred.
Demonstrated experience conducting, preferably adult community or professional choral ensembles
Strong podium presence, score preparation skills, and rehearsal efficiency
Proficiency in vocal pedagogy and choral blend/balance techniques
Familiarity with diverse choral repertoire from Renaissance through contemporary works
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Ties to the greater Lehigh Valley choral community
Experience as a church music director, choirmaster, or collegiate choral conductor
Collaborative piano skills
