Description
DescriptionThe role of the junior quantitative researcher at QuantRes is to assist senior quantitative researchers and conduct research to improve our fully systematic trading system. Our research team is responsible for (i) enhancing the fund's trading strategies, (ii) generating new signals, and (iii) improving trading cost models. The researcher should be familiar with the process of back-testing strategies and developing financial models. In order to succeed in this role, the researcher must be able to work independently as well as function as a member of a multidisciplinary team. The researcher reports to the research business unit manager.
Responsibilities
- Statistical research and data analysis.
- Translate research prototypes into C++/Python suitable for live deployment.
- Develop trading algorithms using data science and mathematical techniques.
- Analyze financial datasets, including unconventional data sources.
- Back test and implement trading models.
- Collaborate with Quantitative researchers and analysts.
Skills & Qualifications
- PhD in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, or a highly quantitative field, or Masters if accompanied by an exceptional academic record and some relevant post-graduate experience.
- A track record of exceptional intellectual achievement.
- Programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques.
- Strong familiarity with probability, statistics, or computer science is a plus.
- Knowledge of financial markets is desirable but not essential.
Location and travel requirements
The quantitative researcher will be expected to complete an initial 6-month onboarding period at the company's headquarters in the Bahamas, with the potential option of working remotely afterward, subject to firm requirements. We provide healthcare benefits, an accommodation allowance, and many premium on-site facilities. International travel is expected two or three times per year.
