The Director of Business Intelligence for KSL will lead the organization's data strategy, analytics capabilities, and insight generation across a multi-platform media and digital marketplace ecosystem. This role oversees business analysts responsible for transforming data into actionable intelligence that drives strategic decision-making, operational performance, audience growth, and revenue optimization.
Operating across television broadcast, radio, digital publishing, mobile applications, OTT streaming platforms, and marketplace businesses-including classifieds, automotive, homes, jobs, and services-the Director ensures leadership teams have clear, reliable, and forward-looking insights to compete effectively in evolving media and marketplace environments.
The Director partners closely with executive leadership, product, engineering, editorial, sales, marketing, and marketplace teams to build scalable analytics solutions, improve measurement frameworks, and unlock new growth opportunities through data.
Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.
- This position is an hybrid role that requires the employee to sometimes work at our downtown Salt Lake City site. Specific hybrid schedules will be determined based on business needs and evaluated by managers and senior management.
What You Will Do:
Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Leadership
- Direct and evolve the organization's business intelligence and analytics strategy aligned with company objectives and growth priorities.
- Contribute to enterprise strategic planning through data-driven insights related to audience behavior, revenue performance, product adoption, and competitive positioning.
- Identify emerging market opportunities, competitive risks, and operational inefficiencies through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership by presenting actionable recommendations supported by data and predictive modeling.
Analytics & Insights
- Utilize modern analytics technologies to gather, store, analyze, and disseminate information across multiple platforms including broadcast media, digital products, OTT streaming, and marketplace services.
- Develop dashboards, KPI frameworks, and reporting systems that enable real-time visibility into organizational performance.
- Analyze internal and external datasets to identify trends, customer behaviors, monetization opportunities, and anomalies.
- Establish standardized measurement methodologies across audience engagement, advertising performance, subscription or marketplace transactions, and user lifecycle metrics.
Product & Technology Collaboration
- Collaborate with product management, engineering, and development teams to design scalable business intelligence solutions and data infrastructure.
- Partner on experimentation frameworks, A/B testing strategies, and performance optimization initiatives.
- Support search performance, recommendation engines, personalization efforts, and marketplace liquidity analysis through advanced analytics.
- Ensure analytics capabilities support digital innovation across websites, mobile applications, OTT platforms, and emerging distribution channels.
Marketplace & Revenue Optimization
- Provide insights that optimize marketplace performance across classifieds, automotive, real estate, employment, and services verticals.
- Analyze buyer and seller behavior, conversion funnels, and inventory health to improve marketplace liquidity and monetization.
- Support advertising, subscription, and commerce revenue models through performance measurement and forecasting.
Data Governance & Operational Excellence
- Establish departmental policies, practices, and procedures governing data quality, governance, and reporting standards.
- Ensure responsible and compliant use of data aligned with privacy and regulatory requirements.
- Lead initiatives that improve data accessibility and literacy across the organization.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and direct business analyst professionals, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and organizational development.
- Provide supervision through subordinate managers or team leads where applicable.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance analytics culture.
- Build cross-functional partnerships to embed data-driven decision making across departments.
Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, or related disciplines.
- Prior leadership or management experience leading analytics or data teams required.
- Experience supporting digital media, broadcast media, marketplace platforms, or technology-driven organizations strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise with modern BI tools, data visualization platforms, and analytics ecosystems.
- Experience working with both quantitative and qualitative data sources to inform business strategy.
- Strong executive communication and presentation skills with experience influencing senior leadership decisions.
- Experience with audience analytics, advertising measurement, or marketplace economics.
- Knowledge of experimentation frameworks and predictive modeling.
- Familiarity with data warehousing, cloud analytics platforms, and modern data engineering practices.
- Ability to translate complex analysis into clear business narratives.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Proven ability to handle stress.
- Ability to consistently work hours required. Works more when required to meet deadlines including weekends, evenings, etc.

Physical Demands
- Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
- Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
Compensation
$120,000 - $180,000. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
