Overview
The Manufacturing General Manager will lead a 215,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing and warehousing operation spanning two plants on a single campus. This flagship site produces configured-to-order, highly complex, and custom-engineered products that represent the world's finest luxury motorized shading solutions—blending precision engineering, craftsmanship, and innovation to transform the way people experience light in their spaces. As the senior leader for the site, the GM drives a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring best-in-class performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and talent development. This role requires a visionary leader who can inspire teams, optimize operations, and set the strategic direction needed to sustain and grow the company's leadership position in the luxury shading market. Responsibilities
Plant Leadership & Accountability Excellence
- Build and sustain high-performing teams by embedding accountability as a core value, empowering employees to take initiative and deliver exceptional results.
- Command decisive and inspiring plant leadership that sets the tone for operational excellence and a results-driven culture.
- Leads with a deep understanding of what excellence means to our customers in a build-to- order environment, prioritizing speed, and responsiveness to fulfill customer-defined expectations.
- Drive clear ownership of goals and outcomes, ensuring alignment between individual responsibilities and overall plant objectives.
- Build a high-performing, engaged team through succession planning, coaching, and talent development.
- Cultivate a respectful and inclusive workplace that promotes accountability and teamwork.
- Oversee workforce planning, hiring strategies, and retention efforts in collaboration with HR.
- Establish partnerships with academic institutions to strengthen the future labor pipeline.
- Drive a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and legal standards.
- Hold teams accountable for incident prevention, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement of safety systems.
- Ensure full regulatory compliance across operations and timely resolution of escalated safety concerns.
- Set and enforce expectations for quality performance and customer satisfaction.
- Partner with Quality leadership to define metrics, reduce variation, and embed a culture of accountability.
- Promote alignment between quality outcomes and brand reputation across all levels of the operation.
- Oversee and direct all manufacturing activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Set priorities and align resources to ensure schedule execution and labor efficiency.
- Establish and maintain systems for standard work, KPI dashboards, and production accountability.
- Own outcomes related to material procurement, inventory management, logistics, and warehousing.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cost-reduction strategies in alignment with the companies overall customer focused strategy
- Make investment and resource allocation decisions aligned with long-term business goals.
- Provide strategic direction and operational insight to executive leadership. Facilities and IT
- Ensure operational readiness and reliability of all physical infrastructure, systems, and technologies.
- Prioritize and fund facility upgrades and IT improvements to support long-term growth.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant building, IT, and cybersecurity standards.
- Lead efforts to evaluate manufacturability, improve processes, and reduce waste.
- Direct strategic projects related to equipment upgrades, automation, and systems enhancements.
- Ensure organizational readiness for new product launches and value-add initiatives.
- Represent the site as a corporate ambassador to local stakeholders and the broader community.
- Promote the company's brand and values externally to support hiring, community relations, and engagement.
- Champion initiatives that position the site as an employer of choice and regional leader in manufacturing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (Engineering, Supply Chain or related field preferred). Masters preferred.
- 20+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and deliver results in complex, high-volume environments.
- Strong business acumen, financial literacy, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
- Effective communicator and culture builder with a track record of developing talent and empowering teams.
- Experience with SAP, and materials management is a plus.
