The Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking to recruit dynamic candidates to expand its clinical and basic science research programs within our several of our sub-specialties. The position is full-time faculty, with the opportunity for academic promotion, which is determined on criteria of demonstrated excellence in the areas of education, research, clinical care, and community service. The position is located at the University of Colorado - Anschutz Medical Campus. Hours will be dependent on business need (i.e., patient volume, schedules, research study needs). Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
The duties in this faculty position will include teaching, research and service responsibilities. The overall determination of research and clinical activities and allocation of time and effort will be subject to the determination of the Section Head.
Clinical duties may include responsibilities at the faculty-level for in-patient / out-patient services as well as consultations, and emergency consultation of the Neurology Department. While on service, obligations will include supervision of medical students, residents, and some fellows, supervision of patient procedures, and teaching of the house-staff as well as students.
Teaching activities including attending neurology services, leading teaching conferences and training medical students, residents, and fellows.
Administrative responsibilities will include data entry into hospital systems, development of critical pathways, committee work and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission. It is assumed the bulk of this non-clinical time will be spent working toward the production of scholarship activities. Attendance at meetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs is expected. Other duties may be assigned as need arises.
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO
This faculty position will work in the Epilepsy Section, which currently has 10 Epileptologists, 9 APPs, and 2 fellows. The Epilepsy Section runs several multidisciplinary collaborative and critical care clinics including the Epilepsy pregnancy clinic, Tuberous Sclerosis clinic, Functional Neurological Disorders Clinic, Neuro-feedback clinic, Diet clinic, Neuro-modulation clinic, Pre-surgery clinic, Surgery clinic, and Tele-epilepsy. The Epileptologists and Epilepsy APPs also rotate through and are responsible for staffing the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and inpatient EEG service (cEEG). All of these activities take place at UCHealth or surrounding Denver metro assigned sites. Opportunities are available to join or develop clinical and basic science research related to epilepsy and to participate in administrative or educational leadership and in program development.
