About the Assignment The Chatwal, New York - an Unbound Collection renowned for its Art Deco elegance, intimate scale, and highly personalized service - is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for a taskforce assignment . This temporary leadership role supports both Housekeeping and the Front Office , ensuring operational continuity and exceptional guest experiences during a transitional period.
The assignment is expected to begin on May 1, 2026, or sooner depending on candidate availability , and will run through the end of July 2026 . Candidates who commit to and complete the full taskforce term will receive a $2,000 completion bonus , paid at the conclusion of the assignment.
About You
You bring a polished, service-driven approach and thrive in intimate luxury environments where attention to detail and personalized guest care define the guest experience. You lead with poise, elevate team performance, and ensure every touchpoint reflects the distinctive character of The Chatwal NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on leadership to Housekeeping and Front Office teams, upholding The Chatwal's elevated luxury standards
- Ensure guest rooms, public spaces, and arrival experiences reflect the hotel's refined aesthetic and Forbes-level expectations
- Oversee daily operations, staffing, scheduling, and labor management across both departments
- Partner with hotel leadership to support guest satisfaction, service consistency, and operational excellence
- Maintain strong communication with Engineering, Sales, and Revenue teams to support occupancy and guest needs
- Address guest concerns with discretion, professionalism, and a personalized approach
- Ensure compliance with brand, safety, and cleanliness standards consistent with The Luxury Collection
- Identify opportunities to refine processes and enhance the guest journey
Compensation & Assignment Details
- Exempt temporary role through July 2026
- Salary range: $70,000-$75,000 for experienced candidates
- $2,000 completion bonus paid at the end of the assignment for candidates who commit to and complete the full term
- Assignment start date: May 1, 2026, or sooner
- Access to select hotel benefits based on assignment length and property policies

Qualifications
- Hyatt Experience preferred
- Opera PMS preferred
- Strong understanding of Forbes service standards and luxury guest expectations
- Proven ability to stabilize operations and lead teams through transition
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with property management systems and standard office software
- Flexibility to work long hours as required by operational demands , including weekends and holidays
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
- Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset
- Union Experience preferred
- Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
