POSITION SUMMARY
As part of the Parks division supervisory team, the Park Supervisor will assist in the development of short and long-range plans, policies, and procedures to meet the department’s strategic goals. Provides input for budget preparation and monitors expenditures. Supervises designated staff and allocates work assignments. Participates in the construction, maintenance and repair of the city’s parks, grounds, facilities and open spaces. Oversees safety programs and equipment maintenance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Participates in Parks division supervisory team and assists in development of short and long-range plans, policies, and procedures.
- Provides input for budget preparation and monitors expenditures.
- Selects, hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates the work of assigned staff.
- Directs and monitors daily work assignments to ensure efficient allocation of staff time and equipment.
- Purchases supplies and equipment in accordance with procurement policies.
- Provides input for bid specifications and monitors contract compliance on assigned projects.
- Provides positive, proactive communication and exceptional customer service to residents, guests and staff.
- Works collaboratively with the parks team, other divisions and other city departments.
- Develops and implements safety training, equipment maintenance and emergency preparedness procedures.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Participates in and aids with all routine and non-routine park maintenance duties.
- Provides training and instruction to staff on safety, equipment maintenance and use, as well as updated technical and professional information.
- Performs other duties as assigned and required.
- This position may potentially require weekends, holidays and evening work.
Requirements
PREPARATION AND TRAINING
Education
- Associate’s degree or higher in Park Management, Turf Management, Horticulture or related field preferred
Work Experience
- 4 years of progressively responsible parks maintenance experience required
- 2 years of team leader or supervisory experience preferred.
Certifications and/or Licensures
- Certified Playground Safety Inspector (or obtain within 1 year of hire)
- Colorado Pesticide Applicator License (Qualified Supervisor) in Turf, Ornamental and Public Health preferred
- Aquatic Facility Operator certification (or obtain within 2 years)
- Required Driver’s License
- Colorado CDL Class B preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge
Working knowledge of:
- Community Park management
- Safety procedures
- Asset management
- Equipment used in maintenance, repair and construction
- Pesticide application
- Supervisory practices
Skills and Abilities
- Computer Skills - Basic computer skills required to effectively use Microsoft Office suite, time keeping, budgeting, communications and reporting systems.
- Communication Skills - Advanced communication skills required to coordinate and direct the activities of personnel. Advanced customer service skills required to interact with the public. Must be able to communicate effectively with suppliers, co-workers, clients and management staff using both verbal (in person and over the phone) and written communications (emails, memorandums, technical reports, budget analyses, etc.).
- Project Management Skills- Advanced project and construction management skills required to oversee all division operations, meet deadlines, and plan strategic directions.
- General Management Skills - Basic management skills required to develop goals and plans and to develop division’s budget.
Mathematical Skills - Basic mathematical skills required to calculate and analyze numbers for developing and monitoring budgets.
SALARY RANGE
$75,761 - $113,507/Annual Pay

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office environment and outside. May work near moving mechanical parts; may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and various chemicals, some of which may be toxic. The employee is exposed to various weather conditions including wet, hot and cold conditions.
