General Summary
Manage, administer and implement the goals and objectives of the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program. The TRIO SSS Program is designed to provide coordinated academic and support services to targeted low-income, first generation and/or disabled college students.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, implement and direct ongoing grant programming designed to achieve its stated goals and objectives including academic support, planning, communication with participants, evaluation of participant skills, organizing targeted skills workshops and other areas of participants' personal growth and development.
- Supervise efforts related to identification, recruitment, selection, assessment and retention of program participants.
- Oversee the ongoing development and implementation of the TRIO SSS grant Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate program assistant, graduate assistants and student assistants who provide services via the TRIO SSS Program.
- In conjunction with the Office of Research Development and Administration (ORDA), prepare, administer and monitor grant expenses and budget materials.
- Develop informational materials and workshops designed to promote program objectives and foster campus community awareness of TRIO SSS Program and target students' support needs.
- Develop and maintain systems to collect, tabulate and record data necessary to comply with all internal and external record keeping and reporting requirements.
- Monitor and track characteristics and performance of program target student populations.
- Collaborate with TRIO SSS staff to develop assessments, communication tools, tutoring and instruction support plans and other academic success programming as needed.
- Serve as the representative of the TRIO SSS Program on and off campus, including with the U.S. Department of Education.
- Attend national conferences and meetings related to grant.
- Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
- Perform related departmental duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Master's degree in guidance and counseling, education leadership, or a related field is required.
Two years progressively more responsible experience administering educational or human service program, including some combination of program management and evaluation, fiscal responsibility and staff supervision is required.
Demonstrated knowledge of the psychological, behavioral and educational issues affecting the academic success of first generation, low income and disabled university students is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Department of Education TRIO programs and experience developing and providing academic support programming for academically and/or economically disadvantaged university students is preferred.
Strong organizational and written/interpersonal communication skills are required Grant writing experience is required Previous supervisory experience is desirable.
