Description
SUMMARY
The Program Manager oversees all community programming at Maraki Center. This role is responsible for the project planning, implementation, reporting, and team management of the Swahili Summer Camp, the Youth Clubs, Shule Fest (back-to-school resource fair), the AfroLex Youth Conference, Parent Engagement Workshops, the Youth Mentorship program, as well as other programming as identified by the organization’s strategic goals. The Program Manager’s primary goal is to achieve the stated outcomes of each program in a community-centered and resource-efficient manner.
This role directly supervises the Summer Swahili Camp Teachers, Drivers, and Volunteers, the Family Support Coordinator, and the AfroLex Club Facilitator, as well as additional volunteers throughout the organization. The Program Manager reports directly to the Executive Director.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Provide administrative leadership in program planning & implementation.
- Complete monthly and annual program reporting requirements.
- Collect and analyze program data.
- Ensure quality case management of refugee and immigrant participants.
- Supervise eld teams and create positive team morale.
- Engage professionally with the Swahili-speaking community that we serve.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Development and Implementation:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and rene program goals and objectives.
- Design and implement effective program strategies in line with organizational mission and values.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of programs, ensuring efficient and high-quality delivery.
Team Leadership and Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the nance team.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support program sustainability.
- Ensure effective utilization of resources to achieve program goals.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess program effectiveness.
- Collect and analyze data to measure program outcomes and impact.
- Use evaluation findings to make informed decisions and improve program strategies.
Community Engagement and Partnerships:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and funders.
- Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and events.
- Collaborate with external partners to enhance program reach and impact.
Requirements
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of experience in community development, project management, or other organizational programming.
Experience developing clear work plans, scheduling activities, and ensuring all programs are delivered on time and on budget. - Grant budget and resource management.
- Professional written and verbal communicator.
- Proficient in written and spoken English, the primary language of operations and reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google platforms (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Gmail, etc.)
- Fluent in Swahili and or Kinyarwanda is preferred.
- Understanding and experience working with the African community in Lexington, KY.
- Passion for and commitment to the mission of Marafiki Center and serving refugee and immigrant populations in Lexington, KY.
