Description
Job DescriptionThe Program Manager is responsible for coordinating multiple interconnected projects across the organization to ensure alignment with program goals and strategic objectives. The role ensures smooth execution of programs, maintains detailed oversight of each project, and proactively identifies and escalates risks and issues when necessary.
The Program Manager works closely with key stakeholders, senior leadership, project managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure transparency, effective communication, and successful program delivery.
Responsibilities
- Organize programs and activities in alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
- Formulate, organize, and monitor interconnected projects to achieve strategic objectives.
- Decide on appropriate program strategies and objectives.
- Coordinate cross-project activities to ensure collaboration and smooth progress.
- Develop and control deadlines, integrated schedules, and activities to meet milestones.
- Apply change, risk, and resource management to keep programs on track.
- Identify, manage, and escalate risks and higher-scope issues as required.
- Assess program performance to maximize ROI and operational efficiency.
- Develop program resource requirements and support Project Managers in securing resources.
- Develop and monitor budgets and operating plans based on project budgets.
- Write program funding proposals when additional resources are required.
- Manage and lead diverse program teams, including evaluating project managers and staff performance.
- Organize and manage program steering committees.
- Prepare detailed reports for steering committees and executive leadership.
- Develop accurate and timely lifecycle program status reports.
- Analyze program data and develop reports, dashboards, and analytics to support the PMO and program teams.
- Translate data into actionable insights, highlighting time and cost risks and recommending corrective actions.
- Communicate program risks, performance updates, and decisions across the organization.
- Meet with stakeholders to maintain transparent communication regarding issues and service decisions.
- Implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure program goals are achieved.
- Demonstrate strong soft skills and executive presence when engaging senior leadership.
Requirements and Skills
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Business or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience.
- Proven experience in program management.
- Proven stakeholder management experience.
- Proven experience managing teams.
- Understanding of project management principles.
- Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
Key Competencies & Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Competency in Office 365 and scheduling software.
- Solid interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interface effectively with executive leadership.
