LAU’s New York office serves as the university’s global bridge to alumni, donors, and institutional partners across the Americas. It is home to a growing team of advancement professionals who work closely with colleagues in Beirut to engage supporters across the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and other regions where LAU’s diaspora and philanthropic networks are strong.
Based in the New York office and reporting to the Director of Advancement Operations New York, with a dotted line to the Manager of Prospect Research Beirut, this Prospect Researcher will work closely with the Vice President of Advancement and support fundraisers in New York and Beirut.
The Prospect Researcher will play a key role in supporting U.S.-based fundraisers and global prospecting efforts. This role will participate in regular virtual meetings with the Director of Research (Beirut), the Assistant Director of Research, and the Vice President for Advancement, ensuring seamless coordination across time zones and geographies.
This individual will support the Director of Research and the broader Advancement team by conducting proactive and reactive research on individuals, corporations, and foundations. This role will focus on identifying new prospects, updating alumni and donor records, and preparing research deliverables that inform fundraising strategy. This position will have a particular focus on identifying and qualifying prospects in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and other regions where research is more accessible from a U.S. base. The Prospect Researcher will also assist in maintaining data integrity within LAU’s CRM system and contribute to the success of the university’s capital campaign.
Select Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on individuals, foundations, and corporations using tools such as iWave, WealthEngine, LinkedIn, Foundation Directory Online, and public sources.
- Identify new major gift prospects, especially among alumni and friends of LAU in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and other accessible regions.
Update and maintain constituent records in Raiser's Edge NXT, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Support data hygiene efforts and contribute to the expansion of LAU's prospect database.
Respond to research requests from U.S.-based fundraisers in a timely and professional manner.
Select Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; coursework in research, communications, nonprofit management, or related fields preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in prospect research, fundraising, or data analysis (internships and part-time roles considered).
- Familiarity with research tools such as iWave, WealthEngine, LinkedIn, and Foundation Directory Online is a plus.
- Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and CRM systems (preferably Raiser's Edge NXT).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
