We’re a traditional, co-ed summer camp for youth ages 7–16 located in the beautiful mountains of Northern California. Family-owned and operated since 1956, Mountain Meadow Ranch is all about connection, growth, and outdoor adventure.
We’re looking for a Staff & Program Director to join our year-round leadership team — someone passionate about youth development, community, and camp culture. This is a key leadership role that oversees the hiring and training of all summer staff and helps shape the overall program experience for our campers.
What You’ll Do
- Recruit, hire, and onboard approximately 26 camp counselors and 8 support staff each year, including a kitchen team and health care.
- Design and lead staff training, creating a positive and growth-oriented team culture
- Oversee the summer camp program, ensuring safe, engaging, and memorable experiences for campers and staff alike. Support in training activity areas offered.
- Provide direct support to staff during camp sessions — mentoring, problem-solving and support in fostering positive work environment.
- Collaborate with the camp’s leadership team on activity planning, scheduling, and program innovation
- Ensure compliance with ACA standards, safety protocols, and best practices in youth development
- Assist with off-season work: staff recruitment, program development, evaluation, and preparation for the next summer(including hiring for summer 2026)
- Off-season responsibilities done remotely and on the ground work, May-July/Beginning of August!***
Who You Are - A strong leader who loves working with people — especially young adults and teens
- Experienced in staff management, program planning, or outdoor education (camp experience preferred)
- Experienced with use of Campminder. I.E. application, contracts,staff background checks, etc.
- Highly organized, proactive, and adaptable
- A clear communicator and empathetic listener
- Passionate about the power of camp and committed to helping others grow
- Comfortable working long, energetic summer days and quieter off-seasons of planning and preparation
- Ready to call camp “home” for the summer (on-site housing and meals provided)
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience (idealy) in camp leadership, program coordination, or staff supervision
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Education, or a related field — or equivalent experience
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license
- Willing to live and work on-site during the summer season

Qualifications
2+ years of experience (idealy) in camp leadership, program coordination, or staff supervision
