The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg is dedicated to enhancing the academic success and personal development of low-income, first-generation, and students with disabilities. Funded by a federal grant, the program provides comprehensive support services, including academic advising, tutoring, financial literacy education, and career planning. Our mission is to foster a supportive and inclusive environment that empowers students to achieve their educational and career goals, promoting higher retention and graduation rates among our diverse student population. Through targeted interventions and a commitment to educational equity, TRIO SSS strives to reduce barriers to success and create pathways for lifelong learning and achievement.
Grant funding is issued yearly and is contingent on project progress and the federal budget. As a grant-funded position, this position is subject to the availability of grant funding.
Job Summary
Provides direction, oversight, and goal-development for the Student Support Services program and assigned units. Oversees programs and services, advises student groups, and performs various budgetary functions.
Essential Functions
The Project Director of the Pitt-Greensburg TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program will enhance the student experience by overseeing the strategic and operational delivery of the SSS program to foster academic success and personal growth among participants.
Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Program Management
- Overseeing and leading the design, development, and implementation of the TRIO SSS Program, aligning with institutional goals and complying with federal regulations;
- Administering, monitoring, and evaluating program activities/functions/service and adapting strategies to meet student needs and funding requirements; serving as key liaison with internal/external stakeholders to foster relationships that enhance program delivery;
- Managing budget/fiscal operations in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, Supervisor, and the VP for Academic Affairs (VPAA);
Supervising the TRIO SSS Academic Coordinator.
Operational Support
- Overseeing data collection and analysis, records management, and compliance reporting;
- Collaborating with university leadership to resolve complex issues and represent the program in formal presentations and communications with national partners;
- Developing all program staff by participating in professional development to stay current with best practices in student support and retention;
Maintaining cross-campus collaborations and disseminating information regarding program services to the campus community and external organizations; coordinating final recommendations and awarding of SSS grant aid with Admissions and Financial Aid Offices.
Physical Effort
The position is primarily sedentary, however, some walking on campus to attend meetings and/or events is required. Some
lifting under 25 lbs. may be necessary. Employee will drive to off-campus events at local high schools or colleges and will be required to attend professional development conferences.

Hiring Range: $54,000 - $57,000 annually
