The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the College of the Holy Cross invites
applications for a full-time visiting faculty position in Chinese Studies
(https://www.holycross.edu/academics/programs/chinese-studies) for the 2026-2027 academic year to
begin in August 2026. This is a one-year appointment. Candidates must have native or near-native
proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English, a PhD or ABD with expertise in Chinese literature and
culture, and experience teaching Chinese language at the college level in the U.S. Preference will be
given to candidates who can also offer courses on Chinese literature and Chinese culture from
interdisciplinary perspectives.
Visiting full-time faculty teach 3 courses each semester and are eligible to apply for support to present
at a conference or attend a professional development program through the Provost’s Supplemental
Research Fund. The College will support reimbursement of relocation costs within its published policies.
The College offers full benefits and a salary of $70,000.
The College will not support H-1B visa applications that require the $100,000 employer fee.
Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching and inclusive
pedagogies as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field. PhD or ABD in related fields and
experience teaching Mandarin at the college level in the U.S required.

to a recent video of yourself teaching elementary or intermediate Mandarin. Please provide information
about the location of the class and the level of the students in your video, the topic(s) covered in the
lesson, and the learning goals you had for the students in that class.
In your cover letter, please address the ways you might contribute to and further the College’s
mission as a Jesuit, undergraduate liberal arts college.
