The Cornerstone Project is a dynamic and rapidly growing nonprofit organization focused on increasing youth civic participation and cultivating new civic talent. We are seeking hardworking and ambitious candidates to join our youth voter registration and leadership development efforts at Texas colleges and universities. This role is ideal for candidates who are excited to grow with the organization and help build up the next generation of Texas leaders.
The Role:
The Regional Organizing Director will oversee the regional field operations aimed at registering and engaging voters on Texas college campuses. This role will involve managing a team of campus organizers and student fellows, developing and implementing regional strategies, and building relationships with campus leaders, faculty, and teams. The Regional Organizing Director will play a key role in advancing our voter registration goals and ensuring the effective mobilization of voters on target campuses.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management & Leadership:
Supervise, mentor, and support a team of campus organizers and fellows.
Provide training, resources, and regular feedback to ensure staff effectively execute voter registration efforts.
Campus Strategy Development:
Develop and implement campus-specific voter registration strategies that align with the organization’s statewide goals, ensuring maximum outreach on our target campuses across Texas.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with campus leaders, faculty, and your campus teams to expand outreach efforts and build a broad support base for voter registration activities.
Data-Driven Planning & Reporting:
Monitor and track field data, including voter registration progress, and leadership development metrics.
Use data to adjust strategies, improve outcomes, and advocate upward to senior leadership.
Fellow Development and Support:
Lead Fellow recruitment efforts, providing support and training to ensure fellows are prepared and motivated.
Support the organization in our Leadership Development efforts.
Collaboration with Other Teams:
Work closely with other teams across the state to ensure voter registration is growing more successful across the state.
Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure all voter registration activities are carried out in full compliance with federal and state laws, including voter registration forms, timelines, and procedures.
Maintain accurate records of all outreach and engagement efforts.
Requirements
The Cornerstone Project prioritizes finding and uplifting talented, hard working individuals committed to strengthening Democracy and treating the people around them well while they do it. Preferred Experience:
At least 2 cycles of experience in organizing, field operations, or community engagement is preferred but not required.
Experience working on voter registration campaigns or civic engagement initiatives is preferred.
Experience managing and leading a diverse team of organizers or volunteers is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and support a team in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, writing, and interpersonal communication.
Knowledge of Texas's civic landscape, demographics, and key issues related to voting rights.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Ability to analyze data and adjust strategies to meet organizational goals.
Fluency in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
Essential Functions and Work Requirements:
This position is based in person in Texas, with regular travel required to target campuses across your region. Travel will also include driving and some overnight stays.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to meet the demands of the campaign.
Ability to work 45 - 50 hours per week June through July, and up to 55 hours per week August through the Voter Registration deadline in October. This position will require daily work outdoors and regular walking around college campuses.
