Description
Position Summary:Summary: Assisting with overall direction, growth and performance of the Recreation Department. Responsible for the management of all aspects of department, including but not limited to: Blueberry Pond Activities, Bike Rental Facilities, Children Activities, Edge venture Program, and Corporate Recreation is accordance with resort standards.
Essential Functions:
Job Duties:
- Monitor staffing levels and adjust levels as necessary.
- Conduct formal training on the required job functions with new hires.
- Conduct ongoing training with existing staff, including monthly departmental meetings.
- Monitor and review staff performance in all phases of service and job functions, ensure that all procedures are carried out to departmental standards.
- Handle disciplinary problems and counsel employees according to hotel standards.
- Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and employee morale.
- Provide direction, motivation, leadership and development opportunities for managers and employees.
- Ensure high quality of cleanliness and maintenance for all physical facilities and equipment.
- Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to Engineering. Contact Engineering directly for urgent repairs.
- Maximize departmental profits by expanding/enhancing revenue sources and exercising strict financial controls.
- Assist with the preparation and execution of annual budgets.
- Monitor inventory of departmental supplies and order as needed.
- Ensure timely set-up of recreation events achieving resort standards.
- Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of all recreational programs.
- Interface with corporate and social clients and follow-through with planned activities.
- Provide well-rounded, safe programs for guests and members.
- Be familiar with all hotel service/feature and local attractions/activities to respond accurately to any guest inquiry.
- Resolve guest complaints assuring satisfactory resolution and appropriate corrective action steps.
- Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
- Develop and assist with marketing of programs, services and facilities.
- Determine industry trends and plan/react accordingly.
- Observe and enforce all rules, regulations and procedures.
- Exemplify the attributes outlined in job descriptions of those you supervise.
Job Requirements:
Physical Standards: Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to bend, stand, push, pull, walk, drive and climb stairs.
Uniform Requirements:
Uniform must consist of resort professional attire including issued nametag.
Qualification Requirements:
- Must have a four-year degree in Hospitality, Recreation Management or a related field.
- Must have experience in supervision of simultaneous events.
- Must have demonstrated skill in recruiting, training and motivation of a large service staff.
- Must be computer literate and have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be functionally literate with verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have experience working with children and the public in a guest service setting.
- Must have a positive, friendly, outgoing attitude and be a leader.
- Must have certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid
Language Skills:
Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English.
Working Environment:
Will be exposed to all weather conditions and direct sunlight for long periods of time.
