- Administrative Fellow
Description
The Administrative Fellowship at Emerson Health System is a one-year opportunity within Emerson’s employed medical group, Emerson Practice Associates (EPA). Throughout the experience, fellows will have a comprehensive view into the management of outpatient physician practices. Fellows will be immersed in the operations of a primary care, medical subspecialty, and surgical subspecialty practices in a hands-on manner, working cohesively with the billing staff and attending key administrative meetings with management staff to ensure a positive patient experience. Furthermore, the fellow will develop fundamental leadership skills such as physician communication, staff assessment, project management acumen, and experience interviewing potential candidates for employment.
The Fellowship structure includes three key phases: Enhancement and Application of Subject Matter Expertise, Refine Management Acumen, and Demonstrate Practice Leadership. Fellows will begin “on the front-lines,” engaging with patients and working closely with staff setting a foundation as they progress into the next phase of their fellowship. As competencies continue to develop, the fellow will assume more responsibility in furthering the mission of EPA. While moving through each phase, the fellow builds upon the previous phase to further develop their leadership abilities with the end goal of leveraging their skill set to manage and lead the front-line operations of an ambulatory care setting.
