UTHealth Houston’s Office of Development and Alumni Engagement is seeking an Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement to lead initiatives that strengthen lifelong relationships between alumni and the university. This role is responsible for developing and implementing a broad range of alumni engagement programs, events, and recognition opportunities that foster meaningful connections with graduates across UTHealth Houston. The Assistant Director will oversee institution-wide and school-specific engagement strategies, including reunions, receptions, regional events, networking opportunities, and signature alumni programs. The position also manages alumni awards and recognition initiatives, while partnering closely with colleagues across the university to align outreach efforts, enhance alumni participation, and support strategic engagement goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead alumni engagement strategies and programs that foster meaningful connections and lifelong relationships with UTHealth Houston.
Develop and execute institution-wide and school-specific alumni events, programs, and volunteer opportunities.
Coordinate institution-wide alumni awards, recognition programs, and related engagement initiatives.
Collaborate with school-based and university partners to ensure a coordinated and impactful approach to alumni outreach and engagement.
What We're Looking For
This position follows a hybrid work schedule with flexibility; however, attendance at evening and occasional weekend events is required. Ideal candidates will have experience in higher education, healthcare, nonprofit engagement, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. You will be joining a collaborative team focused on creating meaningful alumni experiences through a combination of strategic engagement, event planning, communications, and relationship-building.
Requirements
Position Key Accountabilities
- Executes alumni engagement programs, events, and experiences in alignment with established plans, timelines, and engagement goals. Uses project management tools (e.g., Monday.com) to manage tasks, update timelines, and support transparency and coordination throughout program and event execution.
- Supports the development and distribution of communications related to alumni programs and events, including invitations, reminders, and follow-up messaging, in coordination with alumni engagement leadership and communications partners. Ensures communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with institutional messaging and branding standards.
- Coordinates with school-based contacts, vendors, and internal partners to support alumni engagement activities and ensure logistical readiness. Serves as a point of contact for alumni participants related to event details and program logistics.
- Tracks participation, registrations, and engagement data for alumni programs and events. Maintains accurate records and timely data entry in CRM systems and related tools.
- Supports assigned budgets by tracking expenses and processing payments in accordance with institutional policies. Ensure compliance with institutional procedures, risk management requirements, and event-related guidelines.
- Ability to travel, staff events, and work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
