Lexington Leadership Foundation (LLF) is a Christian nonprofit in its 26th year of Kingdom work. During 2025, LLF mobilized over 500 volunteers from a multitude of local congregations to serve 3,500 individuals. We also partnered with more than 100 community entities across multiple sectors, in a collaborative and strategic effort to see the Kingdom come in Lexington as it is in heaven.
LLF is seeking an organized, self-motivated individual for the position of Assistant Director of Finance. Working in a highly detail-oriented environment, the candidate will perform accounting tasks along with a variety of other administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will bring consistent accuracy, flexibility, self-direction, patience, efficiency, and discretion to the role.
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Director is a key member of the organizational team responsible for maintaining financial health and supporting operational effectiveness. This role will have primary responsibility for all day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including coding and entering financial data, processing receipts and payments, reconciling accounts and preparing reports. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Controller and management to deliver accurate financial reporting and support informed decision making. This position will play a critical role in sustaining the organization’s overall financial infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Operations
- Compile, verify, and organize data for financial statements and internal reports including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, donor records, and payroll.
- Follow best practices for non-profit accounting and current LLF bookkeeping procedures.
- Assist with budget development and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, including grant budgets and reports.
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and maintain required records.
- Coordinate preparation and filing of 1099’s, employment tax reports (through 3rd party service provider), and related filings.
- Maintain accurate financial records, tracking tools, and internal databases.
H.R. and General Administrative
- Provide operational support of Human Resource functions including benefits administration, staff onboarding, and compliance when needed.
- Monitor general office infrastructure and vendor contracts.
- Ensure organizational policies and procedures are current and effective.
- Partner with general management team to ensure resources, processes, and systems are aligned with organizational goals.
Requirements
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field required.
- Three to five years professional accounting/bookkeeping experience preferred.
- High proficiency in Quickbooks Online, Excel, MO365 and comfort working with financial data; DonorPerfect experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with leadership direction and organizational goals.
- Demonstrated discretion, sound judgement, and strong integrity.
- Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented, Christian ministry environment.
Salary Range
$55,000 - $60,000 annually. LLF offers a generous benefits package including health insurance, disability, retirement match, and PTO.
