The Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction (https://engineering.unl.edu/durhamschool) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice position in the area of Construction Management and Construction Engineering beginning no later than January 2027. This is a non-tenure track, 9-month faculty appointment (paid over 12 months). The Durham School is co-located in two cities, Lincoln and Omaha, which are approximately 50 miles apart. With approximately 30 faculty, 700 undergraduate students, and 100 graduate students, the Durham School is the only endowed academic unit ($30 million) in the UNL College of Engineering and has strong ties with several world-class construction firms, including Black & Veatch, Hensel Phelps, JE Dunn, Kiewit, McCarthy, Mortenson, Turner, Whiting-Turner, and many others. The position is expected to be based in Lincoln at Kiewit Hall, a $115 million teaching facility that serves as engineering’s academic hub (https://engineering.unl.edu/kiewit-hall/).
Focused on instructional programs, the person in this position is expected to teach undergraduate courses in the Durham School on City campus in Lincoln, and on Scott campus in Omaha, on occasion; actively participate in service, outreach, and community engagement; and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and engagement with industry.

Requirements
At a minimum, candidates are expected to have:
A Bachelor of Science in construction management, construction engineering, or a related field.
A strong record of exemplary accomplishments in the construction industry.
Not fewer than ten years of construction experience in a progressive series of responsible positions
Preference will be given to candidates with at least five (5) years of experience in the United States construction industry and who have previous teaching experience through formal classroom settings or in professional industry settings (internal company training courses, professional short courses, etc.). Candidates with extensive knowledge of construction safety and OSHA certifications will be given preference.
