Description
The Department of Research, Counseling, and Curriculum (RCC) in the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) at Augusta University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor may be considered for an outstanding candidate with an established record of teaching, scholarship, and service. We seek a collaborative scholar-educator whose expertise may include curriculum and instruction, advanced educational studies, educational research, or a closely related area. The successful candidate will contribute to graduate teaching, student mentoring, program development, and the department’s growing research and grant activity while supporting innovative, inclusive, and high-impact learning experiences.
Start Date:
The anticipated start date is August 1, 2027. Consideration may be given to an earlier start date of January 1, 2027.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
1) develop and teach graduate-level courses in one or more areas such as curriculum and instruction, educational studies, educational research, research methods, program evaluation, assessment, or related fields;
2) advise and mentor graduate students, including supporting applied research, capstone projects, and doctoral dissertations;
3) maintain an active and productive scholarly agenda demonstrated through publications, presentations, collaborative research, and pursuit of external funding; and
4) provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and broader community.
Candidates should be prepared to teach in online asynchronous, online synchronous, hybrid, and face-to-face formats. The successful candidate may teach across the Ed.S. in Advanced Educational Studies and the Ed.D. in Educational Innovation and may contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation-related activities, and partnerships with P-20 schools, agencies, and community organizations.

About the Department:
The Department of Research, Counseling, and Curriculum offers graduate programs that prepare educators, counselors, researchers, and organizational leaders to address complex challenges across educational and community settings. Programs include the Master of Education in Counselor Education, the Education Specialist in Advanced Educational Studies, and the Doctor of Education in Educational Innovation. The department also provides research, curriculum, and foundation courses that support programs across the College of Education and Human Development.
RCC has experienced significant growth in enrollment, research productivity, grant activity, and recognition for teaching excellence. Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must hold an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in curriculum and instruction, educational studies, educational research, research methodology, education, or a closely related field by the position start date. The hiring committee may consider ABD candidates if they will finish their degree before employment begins. Candidates must demonstrate the potential for excellence in graduate teaching, scholarship, student mentoring, and service.
Desired Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will demonstrate one or more of the following: expertise in curriculum and instruction, educational studies, research methodology, qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research, program evaluation, assessment, educational technology, educational psychology, educational policy, or another complementary area; experience teaching graduate students in multiple modalities; experience advising or mentoring graduate students; experience working in P-20 educational settings; evidence of an emerging or established research agenda; potential for securing external funding; experience contributing to program development or assessment; and a demonstrated commitment to collaboration and student success.
