Description
The Ethics Program of Villanova University seeks junior candidates for the position of Catherine of Siena Teaching Scholar (ideally, individuals that have completed a relevant Ph.D. within the previous 3 years). This term-limited position offers teacher-scholars an opportunity to hone teaching skills, advance a research agenda, and receive mentorship as they pursue permanent academic opportunities beyond Villanova. Candidates must specialize in ethics and show command of philosophical and religious, particularly Christian, ethics, as well as engagement with applied ethics. Successful candidates will have a clear commitment to advancing Villanova’s mission and values (https://www.villanova.edu/university/president/about-university.html). Responsibilities include a 3/3 teaching load (ETH 2050: The Good Life Ethics and Contemporary Moral Problems is the primary course), research, and limited service for the program. Requirements
A Ph.D. should be in hand by August 1, 2027. The position is for 1 year, renewable for up to 4 years. Application documents should include a cover letter indicating competencies noted above, C.V., unofficial graduate transcripts, statement of teaching philosophy, and any evidence of teaching experience/effectiveness.
