| Job Summary | The Cancer Research Informatics Shared Resource at the Markey Cancer Center is seeking a Data Scientist I to support a broad range of cancer focused research projects through advanced data extraction, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning methods. This position will develop and maintain scalable analytical pipelines, including large language model (LLM)based systems to transform unstructured clinical and research data into high quality, usable datasets for investigators across the Center. The Data Scientist will work with multidisciplinary teams to design analytic workflows, validate model outputs, integrate multimodal data sources, and contribute to manuscripts, grant proposals, and collaborative scientific initiatives. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative, high impact cancer research and supports continuous professional development in emerging computational methods. | Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Knowledge of advance data visualization techniques. Experience using Tableau, ArcGIS, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, etc. to visually communicate data findings. Strong written and verbal communication skills. |
