- Development Director
Description
The Development Director is responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive fundraising and external relations strategy for the organization. This role ensures the diversification and growth of revenue streams, cultivates strategic relationships and strengthens the organization’s visibility within the community. The position requires strategic vision, strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a smallstaff environment.
Requirements
1. Fundraising Strategy & Management
- Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan aligned with organizational priorities.
- Manage individual giving, major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships and events.
- Maintain accurate donor records and track development metrics.
- Prepare development reports for the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
2. Grant Writing & Management
- Oversee the research, preparation and submission of grant proposals and reporting documents.
- Create, update and maintain a comprehensive grants calendar and track deliverables.
- Oversee and ensure accurate grant reporting.
3. Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Cultivate, solicit and steward donor relationships to expand the donor base.
- Oversee donor recognition, communications and stewardship activities.
4. External Communications & Community Relations
- Lead external communications including brand management, media relations and print and digital communications.
- Represent the organization at community events, presentations and meetings.
5. Special Events
- Plan and execute annual fundraising and stakeholder engagement events.
