YWCA Missoula is looking for a Director of Development
The Director of Development is a key leader in advancing YWCA Missoula’s mission and building the support needed to sustain its impact. This role leads bold, integrated fundraising, marketing and communications efforts that inspire donors, deepen community relationships, elevate the organization’s visibility and fuel long-term growth.
Working across the organization, the Director translates YWCA Missoula’s strategic priorities into a comprehensive development strategy that expands philanthropic support while upholding agency goals, program policies and applicable regulations. In close partnership with the Executive Director, Fund Development team and board of directors, this role drives annual and planned giving, corporate and foundation grants, major individual and corporate gifts, and signature fundraising events and major campaigns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five or more years of related experience in fundraising, philanthropy, nonprofit management required.
- High school diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience with donor databases/CRM systems, spreadsheets, word processing and digital communications required.
- Experience supervising staff and managing donor relationships required.
- Current Montana driver’s license, acceptable driving record and proof of automobile insurance in compliance with Montana state law.
- Must pass a background check designed to protect the interests of women and children served by YWCA programs.
Requirements
Key Functions:
- Leads fundraising, philanthropy, marketing and communications in alignment with YWCA Missoula’s strategic priorities.
- Develops and implements annual fundraising, donor engagement, marketing and communications plans.
- Leads donor cultivation, stewardship and major gift activities and supports Board and staff involvement in fundraising.
- Oversees fundraising and community events and related donor communications.
- Ensures accurate donor records, timely acknowledgments, pledge billing and stewardship.
- Develops and manages development, marketing and communications budgets.
- Leads organizational marketing and communications, including digital communications, social media, website content, media relations and brand management.
- Build relationships with donors, businesses, foundations, community partners and other stakeholders.
- Uses data, technology and current best practices to evaluate and improve fundraising and communications efforts.
Knowledge:
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Strong fundraising, donor relations, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with technology, donor databases and digital communication tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work independently.
- Ability to use data and technology to inform decisions and improve results.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, donors, volunteers, Board members and community partners.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and manage conflict effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build strong community relationships.
- Respectful attitude toward all people and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
- Ability to work effectively with complex situations and changing priorities.
What else you should know:
The position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday, Regular Business Hours, some evenings and weekends may be required. The base wage for this position starts at $76,000 salary; higher wages would be based on relevant experience calculated using YWCA Missoula’s wage matrix.
