Description

The City of Shelby (population 22,000) nestled in the southwestern corner of North Carolina is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Finance.  Responsible for directing, planning, organizing, implementing and coordinating the activities and divisions of the Finance Department including Customer Service Billing, Collections, Purchasing, and Finance.  Other duties include coordinating budget preparation and monitoring; planning and implementing capital projects budget; evaluating financial management operations; coordinating external auditors; administering and monitoring the City’s debt service program; preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and serving as the City’s Investment Officer.

Requirements

Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 10 years progressive financial government experience with demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
