Tobacco Road Golf Club in Sanford, NC is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a full-time Director of Golf! We are seeking a motivated individual who is interested in contributing to a positive experience for our members and guests while continuing to grow their knowledge of golf club operations. As an associate of Troon, you'll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.Tobacco Road Golf Club, consistently ranked among the Top 100 Public Courses in the United States, is seeking an energetic, highly organized, and service-driven Director of Golf to lead our Golf Operations team. This is a high-impact leadership role at a destination facility known for delivering a one-of-a-kind golf experience. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, obsesses over the guest experience, and understands how to blend operational excellence with a strong retail presence.
Position Overview
The Director of Golf is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and execution of all golf operations. This includes oversight of the golf shop, outside services, tee sheet management, merchandising, staff development, and-most importantly-delivering an exceptional and memorable guest experience every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Experience & Service:
- Set and uphold a high standard of hospitality across all touchpoints of the golf operation
- Lead by example in creating a welcoming, engaging, and memorable experience for every guest
- Handle guest feedback and service recovery with professionalism and urgency
- Golf Operations:
- Oversee daily operations including tee sheet management, staffing, and a strong emphasis on Pace of Play
- Ensure seamless coordination between golf shop, outside services, and other departments
- Maintain policies and procedures aligned with a high-demand public facility
- Merchandising & Retail:
- Develop and execute a strategic retail plan that reflects the Tobacco Road brand
- Manage buying, inventory control, pricing, and merchandising displays
- Drive revenue through creative merchandising and strong vendor relationships
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing golf operations team
- Foster a culture of accountability, energy, and attention to detail
- Create clear expectations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
- Financial Performance:
- Manage budgets, payroll, and revenue targets for the golf department
- Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency
- Reconcile wholesale accounts with preferred partners
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of proven leadership experience in a high-volume golf operation
- PGA/LPGA Member in good standing
- Strong background in merchandising and retail management
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Passion for delivering elite-level customer service
- Experience with tee sheet and POS systems (Lightspeed experience a plus)

Compensation & Benefits
- Total compensation for this position will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications
- The package includes a competitive base salary, holiday bonus, and performance-based quarterly incentives
