Description
The Department of Biology at Emory University invites applications for a full-time, teaching-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor starting in the Fall of 2027 semester.
The appointee will join a cohesive group of tenure-track (25) and teaching-track (14) faculty working collaboratively in the teaching, research, and service missions of Emory University. In addition to teaching, commonly four courses per year, successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the academic life and governance of the Department, College of Arts and Sciences, and the University. The teaching track at Emory is one of the strongest and longest-running in the country. Teaching Track Faculty are on long-term contracts and have full faculty governance rights and responsibilities and a path to promotion from Assistant to the ranks of Associate and Full Teaching Professor. The appointee will participate in faculty governance of the department and university and undergraduate student mentoring. Salary is competitive and commensurate with rank.
Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remotely is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
Requirements
We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in the biological sciences with a strong commitment to pedagogy and a specific interest in teaching and advising undergraduates. In unusual and exceptional circumstances, those with a terminal degree in other STEM related fields will be considered. Applicants having prior experience with evidence-based teaching practices are encouraged to apply; postdoctoral experience is preferred. We particularly welcome applicants qualified to teach lecture-based courses in biochemistry or developmental biology and/or courses with labs in human anatomy & physiology, comparative vertebrate anatomy, and microbiology.
