Equestrian Director (Seasonal (May to Mid August) Full-Time)
Prescott, AZ
Love horses, leadership, and camp life? CampWay is looking for an Equestrian Director to lead the riding program at Friendly Pines Camp! This is a fully immersive role combining horse care, team leadership, and unforgettable camper experiences
You’ll oversee ~48 horses and lead a team of ~12 instructors and barn staff. From coordinating vet & farrier care to running English & Western lessons, trail rides, and special events—you’ll keep the program safe, fun, and engaging for all skill levels
You’ll also train and mentor staff, lead pre-season training, and jump into camp traditions, evening programs, and community life
This role requires long, active days outdoors, working closely with both horses and people.

Requirements
What we’re looking for:
Strong horse care & barn management experience
Leadership & teaching skills
CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
Passion for working with youth and teams
Qualifications
Education / Certifications:
Current CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain before camp begins
Certifications from equestrian organizations such as CHA or PATH preferred
Valid US driver's license preferred
Experience:
Extensive experience in horse care, riding, and barn management required
Knowledge of both English and Western riding disciplines required
Proven leadership and supervisory experience required
Experience working in a camp or youth program environment preferred
Equine first aid training preferred
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work long, physically demanding days in all weather conditions
Willingness to participate fully in camp traditions, evening programs, and community life
Calm and decisive in emergency situations involving both horses and people
Physical Requirements
This role may require the ability to:
Ride, handle, and work alongside horses for extended periods
Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the day in barn and outdoor environments
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds including feed bags, saddles, and tack
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, dust, and rain
Work early mornings, evenings, and weekends throughout the camp season
