About Oklahoma City’s Adventure District (OKCAD)
Oklahoma City’s Adventure District, Inc. situated at the intersection of I-35 and I-44 in northeast Oklahoma City, boasts Oklahoma’s premier entertainment district. Beyond its popular cultural and entertainment attractions, OKCAD is home to a variety of small businesses as well as vibrant residential communities. Visited by more than 3 million people annually, OKCAD is an ideal destination for business development and growth.
As a non-profit organization, OKCAD is funded by the annual Business Improvement District (BID) assessments and other external fundraising efforts. OKCAD collaborates closely with the City of Oklahoma City to enhance the area through strategic leadership and investment.
OKCAD Mission: We invest our time and resources into creating a cohesive area that connects the current attractions and services. We are invested in increasing visitors and offering reasons to stay in OKCAD while also focusing on securing new services and/or attractions.
OKCAD’s Board of Directors seeks an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as Executive Director. Reporting to the Board, the Director sets strategic direction, champions economic development, builds external relations and partnerships, and ensures OKCAD has the resources needed to fulfill its mission. The Executive Director leads through autonomy and collaborates closely with the Board and City of Oklahoma City to steward OKCAD and its prosperity. This role will also oversee the Adventure District Foundation and its community board.
Responsibilities and Key Leadership Priorities
- Serve as the organization’s chief executive, accountable for overall performance, sustainability, and community impact.
- Drive fundraising efforts and development growth.
- Lead financial decision-making with transparency and discipline.
- Manage OKCAD budget including submitting BID invoices, tracking vendor contracts, and reconciling accounts.
- Oversee OKCAD’s website and socials to ensure content is accurate and assets are current and of high-quality.
- Ensure OKCAD efforts are mission-driven and comply with BID guidelines.
Board Management
- Develop Board relations to create a culture of ambassadorship and community pride.
- Collaborate with the Board Chair to strengthen governance practices, committee structure, and meeting effectiveness.
- Host board meetings by securing meeting spaces and prepare necessary documents for presentation in advance of the meeting. If not meeting in person, hosting the meeting virtually.
- Prepare board meeting agendas and communications, maintain financials, track attendance, and send meeting notices to Board members
- Coordinate regular communications with Board Chair and Committee Chairs.
- Work closely with subcommittee groups to achieve OKCAD strategic goals.
- Manage the Adventure District Foundation and its Board.
Community Engagement
- Enhance relationships and be point-of-contact for OKCAD stakeholders including board members, property owners, business owners, and residents.
- Improve OKCAD business growth through networking and marketing efforts. Ensure new businesses understand OKCAD’s role and connect them to relevant resources.
- Build and maintain relationships with The City of Oklahoma City, Visit OKC, the Greater OKC Chamber of Commerce, property owners in the BID, and other community entities.
- Track and promote new OKCAD businesses, maintain a current informational directory.
- Serve as a visible spokesperson and community leader as well as handle media inquiries.
Working Conditions
- Perform routine check-in with OKCAD stakeholders.
- Office space within the district boundaries will be provided and Executive Director is expected to maintain regular office hours.
Requirements
- 5+ years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit, foundation organizations.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, budget development, and financial oversight.
- Experience enhancing economic growth through organizational messaging, marketing efforts, public presentations, and relationship development.
- Proven ability to inspire board and community members.
- Strong judgment, financial acumen, and ability to manage BID processes and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of Business Improvement Districts and nonprofit governance.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit administration, business or a related field preferred.
