Position Overview
Are you interested in contributing your talents to a mission-focused nonprofit organization providing critical healthcare services to the St. Clair and Northern Macomb County, Michigan areas? We are seeking an experienced Interim HR Manager or Director to provide leadership and continuity for a small HR function of a during an important period of organizational and HRIS transition.
This is a hands-on HR leadership role responsible for employee relations, benefits, leave administration, ADA compliance, recruiting, performance management and employment investigations. Reporting directly to the CEO, the position will assist leadership with strategic planning and organizational initiatives.
Job Type: Interim / Temporary
Location: Position can be located in Algonac (preferred), New Haven or Port Huron, MI. Travel between locations will be required. A daily onsite presence is strongly preferred, but consideration will be given to hybrid availability.
Hours: This is ideally a 40+ hour per week position, however, consideration will be given to reduced availability, up to 32 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day HR operations for approximately 120 employees.
Provide guidance on employee relations and workplace issues.
Administer benefits, leaves of absence and ADA accommodations.
Lead or assist with employment investigations.
Lead recruiting and hiring activities.
Manage the performance review process through UKG.
Serve as the primary HR resource for UKG and HRIS-related matters.
Supervise and support one HR administrative employee.
Partner with Finance regarding payroll processes.
Requirements
Qualifications
6-10 years of HR leadership experience at the manager or director level.
Experience with UKG or another HRIS platform; strong systems knowledge and the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
Strong experience with employee relations, leave administration and ADA compliance.
Recruiting and on-boarding experience.
Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and employees.
Non-profit and/or healthcare experience is preferred but not required.

Experience working in a small HR department or as a standalone HR leader is highly valued.
