- Marketing Director
Description
PCVA Law, a dynamic national plaintiff’s firm with offices in Seattle, Tacoma, Los Angeles, and New York, is building its first dedicated marketing team. The Marketing Director will be the firm's inaugural senior marketing leader, responsible for establishing strategic direction, building foundational infrastructure, and executing on key pieces of marketing efforts. This is an opportunity to shape and elevate marketing at a firm with strong existing assets — including a respected brand and promising early digital initiatives — with the chance to build a more unified, firm-wide strategy going forward.
We're looking for a rare combination: a marketer senior enough to set strategy, earn the trust of our partners, and bring a strong, well-argued point of view – but who is still hands-on-keyboard and wants to be. You won't be delegating work to a department. You'll be the one launching the ad campaign, editing the website, running the SEO audit, and drafting the content. As you prove what works, you'll build the team you need to scale it. We want a builder who wants to do the work, not just direct it.
If your ideal role is directing others while you focus on strategy, this isn't the role for you. If you've been itching to build a marketing engine from the ground up and own both the thinking and the doing, keep reading.
Reports to: Firm Administrator.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Firm Alignment
- Partner with firm leadership to translate partner alignment on growth objectives (case volume vs. case quality, five-year vision for practice mix, office footprint, and firm size) into an actionable, firm-wide marketing strategy.
- Define clear marketing goals, priorities, and success metrics tied to the firm's strategic direction.
Brand Governance & Positioning
- Establish firm-wide brand standards and messaging guidelines to unify PCVA's external presence across practice groups and offices.
- Bring individual attorney websites and social profiles into alignment with firm branding while preserving appropriate attorney visibility.
- Sharpen and consistently communicate PCVA's track record on complex case outcomes as a key differentiator, and help the firm navigate messaging across all case types; for example: between high-stakes litigation and smaller-case work.
Team Leadership & Infrastructure
- Lead and develop a technology infrastructure to support and institutionalize a rapid-response digital marketing program (landing pages, Google Ads, paid social); currently managed informally by firm administration.
- Relieve firm administrators of day-to-day marketing execution so they can return to their core operational duties.
- Develop a transparent, strategic framework for marketing budget allocation aligned with practice priorities and office(s) growth.
- Work in partnership with Marketing Committee Chair and committee members to develop and execute on marketing strategy.
Performance Measurement & ROI
- Implement firm-wide ROI tracking in partnership with the SmartAdvocate rollout, automating intake, lead attribution, and reporting.
- Deliver a monthly marketing performance dashboard to leadership within the first six months.
- Shift marketing decision-making from anecdotal to data-driven
Digital & Content Strategy
- Oversee a firm website overhaul, including updated visuals, SEO architecture, and expanded content.
- Build a comprehensive video strategy to strengthen trust and digital engagement.
- Coordinate social media activity across practice groups and offices and expand successful existing programs such earned media and paid media.
- Create and maintain a shared, firm-wide marketing calendar.
Competitive & Market Positioning
- Monitor the competitive landscape, including aggressive mass tort aggregators and the impact of tort reform on core practices such as medical malpractice and sexual abuse litigation.
- Advise firm leadership on marketing implications of practice diversification and evolving case mix.
Attorney Support & Business Development
- Build a systematic referral network and outreach program, including a referral policy for smaller cases directed to outside firms.
- Develop a structured support framework to help attorneys — particularly newer partners generating work in the LA and New York offices — build external visibility and business development skills.
- Design and roll out attorney business development training programs as part of the longer-term roadmap.
First 90-120 Days — Immediate Priorities
- Implement rapid-response digital strategy for case-driven advertising.
- Launch the website overhaul (visuals, SEO, content).
- Implement ROI tracking with SmartAdvocate and deliver the first monthly leadership dashboard.
- Establish a shared, firm-wide marketing calendar.
- Begin building a systematic referral network and outreach program.
Requirements
- 8 to 12 years of experience leading marketing at a law firm or professional services organization, ideally including plaintiff's litigation, mass tort, or a comparably complex multi-office, multi-practice environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build marketing infrastructure from the ground up.
- Strong grasp of digital marketing fundamentals, including paid search and social, SEO, website strategy, and marketing technology platforms; familiarity with case management/CRM systems such as SmartAdvocate is a plus.
- Experience establishing ROI tracking, dashboards, and data-driven reporting for executive stakeholders.
- Proven people-leadership skills, with experience building and managing a small, high-functioning team.
- Excellent judgment navigating multi-office, multi-practice-group dynamics and building consensus among partners without formal authority over them.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently among Seattle and Tacoma offices.
