Atlantic Health seeks an accomplished heart failure physician leader to serve as Medical Director, Heart Failure Center of Cardiology, based at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey. This is a highly visible opportunity to advance a systemwide heart failure strategy across one of New Jersey’s leading integrated health systems and the nationally recognized Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute.
The Medical Director will provide clinical, strategic, operational, educational, and research leadership for advanced heart failure care across Atlantic Health System. The role includes oversight of inpatient and outpatient heart failure programs, development of standardized care pathways, optimization of quality outcomes, collaboration with mechanical circulatory support and transplant partners, and support for fellows, clinicians, patients, and families through education and program development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of a systemwide strategy for heart failure care, including goals for clinical quality, access, program growth, and care standardization.
- Oversee inpatient and outpatient heart failure programs across Atlantic Health System, including efforts to reduce length of stay, mortality, readmissions, and variation in care.
- Develop and implement standardized care pathways, network protocols, and EPIC order sets for patients with heart failure and cardiac mechanical assist needs.
- Collaborate with cardiovascular, surgical, mechanical circulatory support, pulmonary hypertension, transplant, hospitalist, advanced practice, and external partner programs to strengthen coordinated care.
- Support education for cardiology fellows, medical staff, clinicians, patients, and families, while helping to build a nationally visible research and academic presence in advanced heart failure.
Ideal Candidate
- MD, DO, or MD/PhD with the ability to obtain an unrestricted medical license in New Jersey.
- Board certification in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
- Demonstrated experience leading a heart failure program within a large, multi-hospital health system.
- Record of clinical excellence, program development, interdisciplinary collaboration, quality improvement, teaching, and scholarly activity.
- Ability to work effectively across hospital, system, physician group, and external partner environments.

Requirements
- MD, DO, MD/PhD degree with the ability to obtain an active and unrestricted license in the State of New Jersey.
- Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
- Experience leading a heart failure program as part of a large multi-hospital health system.
