Description
OverviewThis paid seasonal internship program offers youth and young adults ages 16 to 24 work experience and skill development in golf operations at the three DC courses. The posting includes internship tracks in golf services, golf shop operations, program and tournament operations, and food & beverage operations. Opportunities are designed to build customer service, business, retail, instruction, tournament, hospitality, and operational skills through hands-on learning and additional training programs.
Internship dates are approximately June 29, 2026 through September 13, 2026, with flexible start and finish dates based on the applicant's school schedule.
Experience Required
- Open to applicants ages 16 to 24 seeking work experience and career development.
- Ability to anticipate needs and multitask at a high level.
- Effective communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Professional, clean, and properly groomed appearance.
- Available to work weekends and holidays.
- Ability to communicate effectively with players, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Must be able to work mainly outdoors in varying temperatures and inclement weather.
- Requires physical strength and endurance, including frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking rolling terrain, and standing/sitting throughout the day.
- Must be able to lift and transport up to 25 lbs. regularly.
- Must be able to drive golf carts; some roles also require use of maintenance-related equipment and manual dexterity to operate vehicles and equipment.
- High school attendance is accepted for applicants ages 15-18 in certain tracks; high school diploma or equivalent is required for applicants ages 18-24.
- No experience required; on-the-job training provided.
- Program & Tournament Operations Intern track requires 3 years of playing experience.
- Food & Beverage Operations Intern track requires applicants to be 18 or older to serve alcohol in Washington, DC.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support golf services operations by setting practice areas, maintaining driving range and cart barn areas, staging carts, cleaning range balls, and maintaining golf services equipment.
- Assist with tournament operations, junior camps, clinics, and guest group setup as needed.
- Support golf shop operations by helping with tee time reservations, customer check-in, merchandise sales, point-of-sale transactions, and maintaining reservation systems.
- Assist with customer and donor database maintenance, research, bookkeeping-related tasks, reconciliation of program and tournament summaries, and marketing projects.
- Support program and tournament operations by assisting with youth instructional programs, clinics, pre-tournament planning, on-site tournament execution, scoring, awards, and communication with parents and juniors.
- Assist with food & beverage operations including point-of-sale transactions, inventory management, stocking, service, bartending, on-course service, catering support, and related marketing tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
