Description
The Howard University College of Pharmacy invites applications for a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Pharmaceutics at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate is expected to begin employment as soon as possible.

The College is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and offers the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), fully online Pharm.D., dual Pharm.D./MBA, dual Pharm.D/MPH and Ph.D. degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will join the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and report directly to the Department Chair. The faculty member is expected to contribute to excellence in teaching, scholarship, research, and service consistent with the mission of Howard University.
Requirements
Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
An earned Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
Postdoctoral research experience is strongly preferred.
Evidence of, or strong potential for, establishing an innovative, extramurally funded research program.
A demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, mentoring, and service.
Appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank will be based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and academic accomplishments.
Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Teach Pharm.D. courses in Pharmaceutics, including pharmaceutics, biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics and novel drug delivery systems in both traditional and online pathways.
Participate in team teaching of Pharmaceutical Calculations in both traditional and online pathways.
Develop and teach elective courses aligned with their expertise in both traditional and online pathways.
Teach and mentor graduate students in the Ph.D. program.
Implement evidence-based, student-centered teaching strategies utilizing resources available through Howard University's Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Assessment (CETLA).
Research Expectations
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Establish and sustain a rigorous, externally funded research laboratory.
Publish scholarly work in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and give presentations at reputable conferences.
Mentor Pharm.D. and graduate students in research.
Foster collaborative research within the College, University, and with external partners.
Service Responsibilities
Faculty members are expected to contribute actively to the mission of the College through:
Academic advising and student mentoring.
Service on departmental, college, university, and professional committees.
Participation in ACPE accreditation activities.
Faculty development initiatives.
Student recruitment and admissions activities.
Community engagement and professional outreach.
Active participation in seminars, workshops, and continuing professional development.
Maintaining effective communication and collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
Contribute to formulation and characterization of dosage forms within the HUCOP Pharmaceutical Research, Innovation & Manufacturing Enterprise (H-PRIME) enterprise.
Performing other duties assigned by the Department Chair.
