Description
Position OverviewThe Operations Management Program in the School of Professional Studies at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus invite qualified scholars and professionals with experience in operations management to submit applications that will be reviewed by the faculty and placed in a pool for consideration for part-time Instructor positions. An Instructor teaches an undergraduate level course either in-person or online. Instructors report to the Director of the Operations Management Programs.

Instructors are instructional members of the faculty and are not eligible for tenure or promotion in rank. Primary role is instruction with no obligations to perform research or service. Instructors are placed in single term appointments, with renewal based upon unit needs and funding as well as performance that meets expectations, not to exceed two continuous semesters.
This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between The University of Kansas and United Academics, United Academics of KU, AAUP, or AFT. UAKU is the exclusive representative. As the State of Kansas is a right to work state, you have the right to be a member or not be a member of a union without fear of personal or professional repercussions.
Due to complex state employment laws, the University of Kansas may be unable to hire fully remote workers for this position outside of Kansas. Specifically, we cannot currently offer employment to candidates residing in the following states: California, Delaware, Idaho and Minnesota. Job Description
100% Instruction Duties:
- (40%) Plans, prepares and presents lectures for one undergraduate or graduate course in operations management based on an approved course syllabus. Depending on the program, course and semester, instruction may in-person one evening per week or online. Courses are either eight or sixteen weeks in length.
- (40%) Develops assignment, projects and exams. Supervises projects, evaluates student work and provides feedback to students. Maintains office hours as necessary to meet students' needs. In-person courses are live streamed and recorded to support remote students.
- (20%) Maintains technologies, including a learning management system and a classroom lecture recording system.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in operations management or other approved terminal.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
