- Postdoctoral Research Associate (Cell Bioelectrics and Membrane Biophysics)
Description
Pakhomov Laboratory, Frank Reidy Research Center for Bioelectrics https://www.odu.edu/bioelectrics is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate how pulsed electric fields affect mammalian cells, with particular emphasis on plasma-membrane permeabilization, membrane dynamics and repair, and associated cellular responses.
The postdoctoral researcher will design and conduct cell-based experiments using quantitative fluorescence microscopy and single-cell electrical and optical measurements; analyze and interpret experimental data; maintain mammalian cell cultures; and prepare figures, manuscripts, presentations, and other research materials. The position provides substantial opportunity for independent experimental work as well as collaboration on ongoing projects at the Frank Reidy Research Center for Bioelectrics.
Please email your CV and a brief cover letter to Andrei Pakhomov at apakhomo@odu.edu.
Requirements
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent doctoral training in cell biology, biophysics, physiology, neuroscience, biomedical or bioengineering, molecular biology, bioelectrics, or a closely related discipline. Preferred skills include quantitative cell imaging, membrane biophysics, electroporation, patch clamp, calcium and membrane-potential measurements. Candidates should be able to work independently while interacting effectively with other members of a multidisciplinary research group.
