The Esko High School robotics team is known as SubZero Robotics (Team 5690). Founded in 2014, the student-run program competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), frequently participating in regional events at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) SubZero Robotics Team 5690.As of the 2026 season, Team 5690 remains highly active in the Lake Superior Regional SubZero Robotics Team 5690, FIRST Robotics - Esko Public Schools. The program relies on major community sponsors such as Minnesota Power, Cirrus Design Corporation, and the Gene Haas Foundation SubZero Robotics - Team 5690 - The Blue Alliance
