POSITION SUMMARY:
The Advisor provides middle and high school students with college and career support to enable them to graduate from high school and successfully transition onto college. The Advisor uses a whole school approach, which includes targeted and universal student outreach and services in a collaborative manner with school administrators, school staff, other college access providers and other College Success Foundation (CSF) staff.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Implement college and career program with fidelity to the CSF Pathway model and best practices.
- Deliver college and career content, as outlined in CSF program frameworks, by employing strategies and techniques that promote student learning and college readiness.
- Provide ongoing services such as one-on-one advising to support students' college and career readiness, assist with the college planning process and achieve CSF student outcomes.
- Maintain supportive relationships with students to create opportunities for social and emotional growth.
- Work with school principals, school staff and local community partners to engage and retain high school students in CSF programming throughout the school year.
- Review and apply student feedback, which is collected by the advisor through surveys and other means, to be responsive to student needs and continually improve programming.
- Actively participate in trainings as well as manager and peer feedback sessions to promote professional development, learning and collaboration.
- Input data into Salesforce to monitor progress with program implementation, track service deliveries and student participation and respond to reporting requirements.
- Attend CSF staff meetings, CSF All Staff meetings, and other required gatherings including occasional evening and weekend events.
- Track and reconcile monthly program expenses.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
The items listed below are the minimum requirements for the job and are relevant to this position. The organization values both work experience and education and realizes that individuals take different paths to acquire knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree in education, Social Work, or relevant field, preferred.
- Two years of experience in fields related to mentoring, youth development, education, teaching or counseling.
- Experience working with diverse populations and age groups
- Alumni of CSF programming and/or scholarship recipients preferred.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position will be considered.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of the barriers encountered by students from underrepresented groups.
- Familiarity with practices and strategies to promote student learning including the skills to coach and guide students to develop a growth mindset.
- Ability to coach and mentor students to achieve educational and career goals.
- Flexible and adaptive to meet the diverse needs of students
- Knowledge of college and career readiness as well as postsecondary planning and enrollment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with students, educators, and community stakeholders.
- An established commitment to work collaboratively and harmoniously with CSF staff, colleagues and stakeholders.
- Skills to organize and prioritize key tasks with attention to detail and established deadlines.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, respecting individual differences and serving diverse populations.
- Initiative to learn and enhance skills that promote equity and an understanding of oppression and its impact on underserved populations.
- Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, such as Salesforce, for data analysis and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word, as well as knowledge of collaborative online meeting tools such as Teams.
Professional Certifications and Licenses
- Motivational Interviewing Certification a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position requires Washington state residents if assigned in a Washington based location. If this position is assigned in a District of Columbia based location the resident must reside in the District of Columbia.
- Job may allow for hybrid work arrangements.
- Uses collaborative software for communicating with others and attending virtual meetings.
- Occasional travel is required, including occasional evening and weekend events.
- Reliable transportation is required.
