Senior Applied Scientist
Thumbtack, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) to be responsible for applying scientific techniques to consumer products; working on next generation search experience, ranking and matching algorithms, and the end-to-end hiring experience for users of marketplace; initiating and driving applied science initiatives to completion, with a focus on the business impact of those projects; architecting and deploying machine learning systems and algorithms to production; designing and executing experiments, collecting and analyzing data to characterize product and marketing; analyzing a wide variety of data: structured and unstructured, observational and experimental. Must have Master’s degree in Computer, Data Science, Machine Learning, Applied Math, Statistics, Robotics, AI, Engineering or a directly related field. Must have one (1) year of prior work experience in the position offered or related. Must know (through academic training or work experience) utilize Natural Language Understanding (NLU) and Machine Learning techniques to analyze, process, and interpret large sets of textual data; analyze, manipulate, or process large sets of data using statistical software; implement feature selection algorithms in the development and optimization of NLU models that predict key outcomes, such as customer engagement, user attrition, and system responses; apply feature selection algorithms to models predicting outcomes of interest; test, validate, and reformulating models to ensure accurate prediction of outcomes of interest; clean, pre-process, and manipulate raw textual data using NLU tools and techniques; extract, clean and sample data using SCOPE, Cosmos and Azure blob storage; build a proof of concept using TLC, Azure Machine Learning / Azure Synapse Analytics; run A/B tests and analyze the experiment results; define and monitor metrics using Power BI and set guard rails to avoid obvious feature failures; machine learning techniques and natural language processing (NLP); create and drive technical and impactful roadmaps for the business, and lead seamless execution. $142,438 – $150,000/yr.
May work from home anywhere in the continental U.S.
